What was previously a quintessential miner’s terrace suffering termite damage, has now been converted into a functioning home for a young creative couple and their 2 dogs. The brief given to The Stylesmiths™, was to create a low-maintenance city feel while rectifying the years of neglect the house had endured.

The absence of a kitchen was the most obvious need for this residential interior design overhaul, and so one was custom designed to ensure the homeowners had a place for nightly meals, integrating all the essential appliances. Addressing the tight footprint available, a bar and entertainment system are concealed behind new cabinetry flanking the kitchenette, keeping the living and working zones seamless.

Existing slate floors have been covered with liquid latex concrete in a charcoal shade, the darkness offering a sense of calm and softness, like a cozy den. The central courtyard extends the space, introducing light to both dining and lounge, flowing out to the rear garden that’s perfect for hosting dinner parties.
