Nestled atop a gentle rise, this sub-penthouse effortlessly blends modern elegance with coastal tranquillity. It celebrates minimalism, allowing the breathtaking panoramic views to enchant the senses. This apartment was ready for a remarkable transformation, trapped in the 1970s with outdated features and a fading aesthetic. Our skilled Stylesmiths interior designer seized the opportunity to breathe new life into this residential interior design, crafting a lasting, chic, and functional haven for our clients. The sub-penthouse’s complete redesign reimagines coastal living with meticulous craftsmanship, seamlessly blending contemporary design elements at its core with a focus on comfort and entertainment.
The concept was to adapt to our clients’ changing circumstances, as their children had grown and moved out to pursue their own paths. A couple, now empty nesters and appreciating simplicity, desired an open-plan haven to embrace the stunning views at both sunrise and sunset. The project aimed not only to reflect their personal preferences but also to accommodate the unique needs of this new phase in their lives. This effort aimed to authentically mirror their current journey, turning an ageing apartment into a modern seaside home. The extensive renovation covered the entire three-bedroom apartment, reimagining spaces to meet our clients’ requirements. One bedroom transformed into a functional study, while the former laundry area became a charming coffee nook and wine storage pantry.
The bathroom designs gracefully evolved, and an expansive walk-in robe was integrated to elevate the renovated ensuite. At the heart of this residence lies a captivating fusion of deep, luxurious tones subtly contrasted by lighter shades, crafting a minimalist yet inviting atmosphere. Meticulous material selection and the incorporation of curvaceous elements throughout the design ensured not only visual appeal but also durability, showcasing the project’s commitment to enduring elegance and understated sophistication.
The kitchen interior design artfully combines natural elements, with Calcutta marble gracing the countertops, backsplash, and the gracefully curved kitchen island resting on a fluted ivory marble base. These luminous surfaces, bathed in gentle natural light, exude timeless sophistication, highlighting the intricate veins that testify to nature’s artistry. Custom walnut timber cabinetry showcases meticulous craftsmanship, with its gentle curves adding an artistic dimension that seamlessly blends form and function. The marriage of walnut timber and burnished steel fixtures and appliances infuses richness, bridging tradition and modernity effortlessly. This sculptural island creates an ideal setting for gatherings and culinary rituals, with its elegant contours promoting a seamless flow of interaction and entertainment. Adorned with Grazia & Co bar stools enveloped in plush wool, it adds a whimsical touch, inviting you to relish moments of relaxation.
Panoramic vistas flow gracefully from the kitchen into the expansive living area, where sunlight bathes the space in opulence. The Jardan curved boucle wool sofa and Grazia & Co armchair impart an aura of casual sophistication, grounded by a pink ombre hand-carved wool rug from Designer Rugs that introduces texture and depth. Curved elements define the room, with the elegantly curved Venetian plaster fireplace serving as the focal point, a motif echoed throughout the residence. A marble plinth adds to the aesthetic, providing both storage and an enchanting base for the fireplace. This thoughtful detail seamlessly links the kitchen and living room, creating a harmonious fusion of the living spaces.
The dining area is situated against the back of a custom walnut timber bar, embellished with reed glass that gracefully extends the design aesthetics from the kitchen. With its marble inlay, this bar introduces a touch of refined opulence, embracing an interplay of curves and textures. The Gubi boucle wool dining chairs elegantly complement the design theme, effortlessly harmonising with the subtle nuances of the reed glass and perfectly matching the sophisticated black Grazia & Co dining table. Illumination is provided by the horizontal trilogy pendant light from Articolo Studios, bringing everything together. Our Stylesmiths Designer faced the pivotal task of crafting an interior for the open-plan living space that rivals the beauty of the stunning view, all while orchestrating a seamless harmony between the two.
The hallways are bathed in the warm glow of Venetian plaster, radiating a romantic luminescence in the evening. Arched entrances seamlessly blend the historical significance of the 1970s with personal inspiration. In the master bedroom, a custom upholstered headboard and walnut bedside table create a tranquil haven for relaxation. The design approach extends to the bathroom interiors, where the ensuite features a handcrafted marble vanity, burnished taps, and marble floors, framed by arched doorways and mirrors. A floating wall sconce adds a welcoming ambiance. In the main bathroom, a trilogy pendant light illuminates walls adorned with a mosaic of Piketto grey kitkat tiles, enhancing the beauty of marble, walnut timber, and iron bronze tapware. This intricate fusion of elements creates an aesthetic symphony that elevates the overall ambiance to new heights.
In the study, a shared workspace effortlessly integrates the same material palette as the living area, offering expansive urban panorama. An unexpected delight awaits in the renovated laundry, which has evolved from a mundane space into a haven dedicated to the client’s love for coffee and wine. This transformation underscores the design’s capacity to enhance everyday life. Design continuity is evident as Calcatta marble countertops and reeded glass seamlessly traverse from one room to the next, creating a visual story that ties the spaces together. The residential interior design of Fairlight residence exemplifies the seamless fusion of 1970’s history and innovation, embodying quiet sophistication and comfort.
