Our talented Stylesmiths interior designer recognised the house’s excellent bones and well-thought-out design for its time, but it needed an update to align with the client’s vision. The property served as a blank canvas, offering the perfect opportunity to enhance and reshape its existing charm.
Every aspect of the kitchen renovations, living area, dining space, master bedroom, and bathroom design received meticulous attention to detail, resulting in a perfect blend of serenity and enhanced functionality. The essence of this home lies in its foundation of dusty pinks, blonde timbers, pastels, and rust accents, evoking a light, airy, and soothing atmosphere reminiscent of the effortlessly chic vibes found in Palm Springs.
The entry and staircase received a stunning makeover, featuring standout fluted walls that serve as the most significant statement piece. Embraced by the clients, the concave fluted walls lining the hall and stairwell required some compromises with the builder, but the rhythmic and impactful first impression they create is undoubtedly worth the effort. These fluted walls set the tone for the entire residence, exuding a sense of elegance and intrigue.
The rhythmic style seamlessly connects the open plan living area, leading you towards the kitchen island. Its fluted base and natural stone bench top provide a sturdy yet decorative solution, complemented by azure blue kit-kat tile splash backs and American oak cabinetry, transforming the kitchen and dining space into a tranquil and serene area for family living.
As you continue into the living space, you’ll be greeted by an ambiance of warmth and depth, with dappled sunlight filtering through sheer linen curtains, anchored by sun-bleached American oak timber floors. Oak timber joinery offers both practical storage and display space for beautiful objects and vases, seamlessly connecting to the fireplace clad in hand-made terracotta tiles. A handcrafted Jardan sofa with a timber base, upholstered in rust-toned boucle textured wool and adorned with aztec cushions, provides structured yet casual seating, creating the perfect space for a wattle flower moment. A rusty pink hand-tufted rug beautifully delineates the living room space, completing the captivating play of tone, texture, and warmth.
The dining room boasts American oak in the form of a dining table and custom joinery bar, encompassing the same Palm Springs vibe and play on textures with boucle wool dining chairs and rusty blush tones. This area acts as a harmonious connection between the dining space, kitchen, and living room, seamlessly leading to the outdoor BBQ area, perfect for entertaining and family gatherings.
The master bedroom exudes a captivating and mysterious atmosphere, evoking a sense of intrigue and allure. Its dark and moody ambiance sets it apart from the overall style of the house, creating a sanctuary after a long day of work. Featuring a fluted floor-to-ceiling headboard and Memphis-inspired tile that softly illuminates the space, casting enchanting patterns and creating a mesmerising visual display.
