This bespoke apartment resides in the iconic Tribeca building, once home to Bitters Brewery. Converted into residences in the 1990s, the Cellars and Middle Tower buildings now offer stylish living spaces, while the Old Brew Tower serves as a mixed-use museum, preserving its original brewing equipment as a nod to the building’s storied past. Originally designed by Philippe Starck, this apartment has been meticulously transformed by The Stylesmiths, blending modern luxury with industrial heritage home interior design.
The Stylesmiths interior designers reimagined this two-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment into an expansive one-bedroom retreat. Designed for a couple as their sophisticated pied-à-terre, this residence now offers ample storage, a chef-worthy kitchen interior design, and thoughtfully integrated work-from-home spaces. The design merges hotel-inspired luxury with a serene ambiance, perfectly balancing the couple’s love for quality with the unique character of this historic property.
Textural finishes and minimalist luxury define the design philosophy, enhancing light and space while exuding refined elegance. The open-plan layout harmonises each area, thoughtfully integrating the kitchen, living, and dining spaces for seamless flow. Every detail, from furniture scale to material selection, was curated to evoke both warmth and sophistication.
The heart of this urban haven is a spacious living area featuring an exposed brick wall—a striking reminder of the building’s industrial roots. This rich, textured backdrop complements the smooth, cream-hued cabinetry and polished surfaces of the adjacent kitchen. The dining nook sits next to the exposed brick, with a wooden table and plush, velvet-upholstered chairs. Soft lighting and a patterned banquette enhance the space, bringing together earthy tones and modern finishes.
In muted tones, the kitchen’s seamless cabinetry and integrated appliances create an uncluttered, timeless look. The engineered travertine backsplash and countertops add understated opulence with their delicate veining. Floor-to-ceiling storage maximises functionality, while under-cabinet lighting casts a warm glow, accentuating the natural beauty of the travertine and enhancing the room’s cosy atmosphere.
A light grey sofa and autumn-toned cushions bring comfort to the living area, accented by curved teal chairs and artwork by Elizabeth Shaw. Wide-plank dark oak flooring provides depth and contrast, grounding the room’s lighter elements in sophistication and warmth.
The bedroom, in earthy tones and rich textures, offers a peaceful retreat. Muted grey walls, dark timber accents, and landscape artwork by Peter Watts enhance the natural, calming atmosphere. A plush, beige headboard and dark timber nightstand add comfort and elegance, while floor-to-ceiling creamy curtains gently filter light for a bright yet private space.
In a neutral palette of beige and cream, the bathroom interior design exudes elegance with engineered travertine walls and floors. A reed glass partition adds privacy to the walk-in shower, and black metal framing offers a modern touch. The floating travertine vanity and burnished brass fixtures complete the cohesive, contemporary aesthetic, illuminated by discreet lighting for a warm, inviting atmosphere.
