At the peak of Bellevue Hill, a century-old Peppertree stands tall, sheltering two homes beneath its sweeping branches—The Oculus House on one side, and the beautifully revived Peppertree Villa on the other. When the owners met beneath its canopy, discussing architecture and botany, the foundation was laid for a transformation led by Luigi Rosselli Architects, blending heritage with contemporary home interior design.
Rooted in 1920s Mediterranean elegance, Peppertree Villa was originally crafted with grand loggias, stately fireplaces, and impeccably proportioned rooms. The goal of the redesign was to enhance the home’s flow, connecting interior spaces to the lush garden while introducing a basement garage, an attic room, and a serene backyard pool.
A striking new staircase, sculpted like a suspended ribbon, seamlessly links the new levels, floating effortlessly within the stairwell. Throughout the home, home interior designers infused rich textures—stucco lucido polished plaster, brass metalwork, timber paneling, and bronze-accented cabinetry—bringing a refined yet tactile warmth to every space.
On the ground floor, small timber windows were replaced with expansive steel-framed openings, allowing dappled sunlight from the Myles Baldwin-designed garden to pour in. Beneath the Peppertree’s enduring presence, this reborn villa embodies a masterful balance of tradition and innovation in home interior design.
