Nature, it was the primary focus for ONG&ONG, the architects of this Singaporean family home. Situated within the existing grounds of an old colonial house and backing onto a green corridor created by a disused railway, the house has been designed to fully capitalise on harnessing the surrounding nature from every room and aspect.
Conceived of two rectilinear volumes, the base being clad in grounding stone and the upper of light and transparent sticks, the house welcomes visitors to a large and open family living area, a guest suite coming off this space with the upper volume containing four bedrooms. A secret subterranean level houses the media room with an incredibly cool window into the pool.
Clearly designed with the surrounding environment, history and use of the space in mind, this house is a cool and confident addition to the Singapore design scene.
